Book Review

Okay so I know that this movie trailer came out so long ago but I never wrote about my reaction until now. So here’s the thing. I actually love and adore Miss Peregrine Home for Peculiar Children. I’ve read up to book two while Library of Souls is sitting on my shelf waiting for me to pick it up. So when I heard that this lovely series was coming to the big screen I was hella excited. Like fuck yeah! Let’s do this.
Now I’m sure everybody done seen the trailer to Miss Peregrine and many were ecstatic about it but I for didn’t feel that same excitement. In fact I was disappointed. For one they changed the love interest between Jacob and Emma. Like Emma for badass and could take care of herself in a fight. She wasn’t afraid of anything. But I guess Tim Burton felt the need to change that about because it seems like the floating girl Olive is the love interest. Seeing as she is more vulnerable and in need of help since all she can do is float.

Secondly, looking at the trailer everything seems too bright and cheerful. It reminds me of Big Fish (A movie that I love) which aesthetically doesn’t go with what I had in mind. I thought it would be a little darker and creepier. Especially the Hollows but whatever.

Another thing that irk the hell out of me is the lack of diversity. Now I know in the book there wasn’t really any but Tim Burton had the chance to make a difference. Instead the token black person is the villain. Yes let’s reinforce that old stereotype of the big black man chasing after the special snowflake white children. Been there done that. Its 2016, can we please come up with something different.

Anyways, from the look of this trailer I’m not incline to say whether I want to see the movie or not. Maybe a second or third trailer will let me cement my decision. For now it’s a no for me dawg.

Are there any movie trailers that haven’t met your expectations? That disappointed you? If so, let me know.

As always, thanks for stopping by. Much love <3

    1. I agree it could have done without the romance. I’m that you’re excited for the movie. I hope I get that excited the next a new trailer is revealed.

      Thanks for stopping by.

  1. I was unimpressed when I saw the trailer, while I haven’t read the books I was still expecting something spectacular from the movie. This doesn’t interest me in the least, I definitely won’t be watching this movie.

    1. I feel you. I want something that was going to be mind blowing but instead it was like meh. Better the next trailer will be the thing that get’s me excited for the movie. If not I always have the books.

      Thanks for stopping by.
