I’ve been blogging for over a year now but I’ve been a reader pretty much all my life. So when I’ve read a book I’ve enjoyed, I like to tell everyone that will listen. So that is what I’m doing with this list. I’ve read some pretty amazing books yet they don’t seem to get the recognition they deserve.
Promise of Shadows
If you love Greek mythology and a kick ass heroine. I highly suggest you read Justina Ireland’s Promise of Shadows. Not only does it have a beautiful cover but it also have Harpies. Yes Harpies people. Not something you see in YA. Plus I personally, enjoyed Promise of Shadows and I hope you do too. Such an unique take on Greek mythology.
Ignite the Shadows
Looking for a great urban fantasy to add to your book collection; then look no farther than Ignite the Shadows by Ingrid Seymour. With a kick ass heroine and a unique take of Invasion of the Body Snatcher, Ignite the Shadows is sure to be a thrilling ride that you never forget.
Okay I know it seems like a theme is going on here but I promise you it’s not. Shadowshaper is another great YA urban fantasy that mixes Caribbean folklore/mythology and presents New York City the way it’s meant to been seen. Also the gorgeous woman of color on the cover it just A+. Oh I can’t forget the kick ass heroine.
First off I just love Storm Siren and so will you. If elementals and a mix of steampunk inspired world building is your thing I highly suggest you read this book. It’s such a fantasy that deserve a chance to win your heart like it has won mines. Plus interracial couple. Something rarely seen in YA.
Halloween season is here and what a great time to read Sanguine Mountain by Jennifer Foxcroft. You will fall in love with this unique take on vampire folklore as well as fall in love with the hottie Roc. I have to say this is one of the best indie YA I’ve read in a long time.
Although I’ve technically not have read this book it has come highly recommended from my girl Tika over at Fangirl Confessions. Her recs are always on point and I know this book will be great. I glad I have this book in my collection.
That’s my list for now. I’m pretty sure there will be a part 2 and 3 and so on and so far. I hope some of these recommendations have piqued your interest. Do you guys have some books you think are underrated? Tell me your thoughts. I would love to know.
