Okay you all know me and paranormal romance/erotica is not my thing, so naturally I was hesitant about reading Scattered Ashes. I’m glad I took the chance because this book was good. It’s fast-paced, intense and filled with action and some really steamy sex scenes. Beyond the sex Scattered Ashes is an emotional roll coaster that touches on lost, forgiveness, heartbreak and what it means to be reborn and find love even when everything around you is falling apart.

The two main characters are great. I really enjoyed Aurelia development. Now only is she bad ass but she strong and vulnerable all at the same time. Annie Anderson writing captures that beautifully. I mean it’s not easy being a Phoenix, let alone one that is plagued by death, destruction and nightmare visions. Yes Aurelia can’t even get peace has she sleeps.

As for Rhys, you want to hate him but you can’t. You just can’t. Yes he murdered Aurelia’s husband but there is a reason behind it. Yes he says and do so dumb things at times but he means well and he truly does love Aurelia but losing someone you love to the person that is protecting you, the one that killed your husband, there is no time for love. So it’s natural that Aurelia would feel this way, even though you know these two are meant to be together.

Also there is the fact that you can’t or won’t trust anybody. You’re closed off to everything, even love. So that is why I love the dynamic and the push and pull that is well played between Aurelia and Rhys in Scattered Ashes. I mean it’s super intense and you’re just reading, waiting for that moment when all hell will break loose, in a good way. In a sexy and steamy way.

So, yes I will recommend this well written, captivating and thrilling paranormal romance to all. This is a must read. It’s that good and this is coming from me. The Cold Hearted Queen.
