THE REAL NEAT BLOG AWARD

Real Neat Blog Award

Okay you guys I suck at tags and I feel so shitty that it took me this long to do this tag. But here I am. Thank you Sara at saraletourneauwriter.com for tagging me. Makes me feel so special–to know that my hard work is paying off. If you’re not following her wonderful blog, I don’t know what rock you’ve been living under. Let me tell you that I’m really excited about her YA fantasy novel that she’s in the process of writing–The Keeper’s Curse. Can’t wait until it comes out.

So the premise of this award is pretty basic. All you have to do is answer the questions given to you by the person/ blogger who nominated you and then you in return nominate 4 or 5 bloggers that you think deserve the Real Neat Blog Award. Now let’s see what Sara wanted to know!

1. What is your favorite book that you’ve read so far this year? Why?

So I’m so going to cheat with this question because I have two books that I can’t stop thinking about. One has to be An Ember in the Ashes. I just love the story that Sabaa Tahir weave. Such a prolific writer that has a bright future ahead of her. I’m so happy that she got the green light from Penguin to start on the second book. The second book that I’m in love with is Sarah Ockler’s The Summer of Chasing Mermaids. So damn good and I don’t do contemporaries. Not only does it have a biracial couple but it’s such a unique story. I’m hoping to go back to the Cove with Kirby and Noah’s story. Fingers crossed.

2. Which literary character do you relate to most? Why?

Oh this question is an easy one. I would have to say Cath from Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I know what it’s like to be shy and scared of starting new adventures in your life. To be caught up in the fictional world you created with characters you love dearly. The true meaning to being a Fangirl.

3. Pick any fictional world you’d like to visit. What would you do there? Also, what you would avoid doing? 😉

Hogwarts! That’s my dream and now I can make it happen thanks to Universal Studios lol. I need to go to hogsmeade and try the butterbeer. At the same time I’m staying away from the Dark Forest. I know this answer is so clichè but Harry Potter has been with me for a long time. Has a special place in my heart. Forever and always.

4. Now, pick one of your favorite places in real life, a place that feels like a second home. What is this place, and why is it special to you?

Well growing up my family didn’t have much money to go on vacations all that much but when we did it was always to Disney World in Florida. So I guess the state of Florida is a special place for me. Not only are there some fun beaches to visit but….Mickey Mouse. Can’t hate on Mickey. Plus I love when all my family gets together and have a ball. From the old heads to the young ones. I think it’s a family tradition 🙂

5. Share one of your favorite quotes. Why does it resonate with you?

“It’s very hard to keep personal prejudice out of a thing like this. And no matter where you run into it, prejudice obscures the truth.” – 12 Angry Men by Reginald Rose

I have many quotes that I love from the play/movie 12 Angry Men but I chose the above quote because it speaks volumes with what is going on in the world. If you read enough newspapers paper or see what’s trending on black twitter then you know what I’m talking about. Whether it’s dealing with race or one’s sexuality, prejudice of some kind seems to come into play even if we don’t want it too. And this when the truth gets muddled.

Now that you’ve read my answers, it’s time for me to nominate some blogs that I think are real neat. But first here are the questions that I want to ask. I’m so curious as what the answers might be.

  1. Which two authors would you like to see collaborate and why?
  2. Keep, throw away, rewrite. A Court of Thorns and Roses, A Darker Shade of Magic or The Fault in our Stars. Yes I can be evil.
  3. If you can only read one book for the rest of your life which one would it be and why?
  4. Where are some of your favorite places to read?
  5. Which of your favorite books would you love to see adapted into a movie? Who are the actors you would choose to play the main characters?

There you have it. Now these are the lovely blogs that I’m Nominated. I have more than 5–hope that is alright. By the way these bloggers most likely will kill me because I’m always tagging them in something but the fact of the matter is that I truly enjoy visiting these blogs 🙂
